Jorge is a young Mexican bass who studied both his bachelor's degree in early music singing and master's degree Advanced Vocal Ensemble Studies (AVES) at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis, an institution where he has been particularly influenced artistically by professors Ulrike Hofbauer and Federico Sepúlveda.
Thanks to his vocal flexibility and musical precision Jorge has developed a remarkable career both as a soloist and ensemble singer, with a repertoire ranging from Renaissance polyphony to 19th-century opera repertoire, which has given him the opportunity to collaborate with ensembles such as La Cetra Vokalensemble, Abendmusiken Basel, Voces Suaves and Larynx Vokalensemble, singing under the direction of conductors such as Rene Jacobs, Andrea Marcon, Masaaki Suzuki, Lars Ulrik Mortensen, Jörg-Andreas Bötticher and Rudolph Lutz.
Alongside his work as a specialist in early music, Jorge pursues his passion for Latin American music with his group Mango Manila, focusing on the oral transmission of traditional melodies.
